The Seven Questions Of The Resurrected Christ

At the age of sixty-one, Mohammed passed away in Medina on June 8, 632, and tens of thousands of Muslims visit his grave there each year. But rather than celebrating his resurrection, they come to lament his passing.

However, the Church of Jesus Christ commemorates the triumph of our Lord over death and the grave not only on Easter but also on Lord's Day, at every baptism service, and throughout the Lord's Supper.

Death put its grip on Jesus about two millennia ago, yet it was unable to contain him. He fled to God's throne from the tomb. After He rose from the dead, Jesus asked seven questions after His resurrection that help explain the Resurrection.

1. WHY ARE YOU WEEPING?  John 20:15 "Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away." She was crying about her lack of knowledge about Jesus' resurrection. Jesus had risen from the grave already. There was no cause for her to cry; she ought to have been celebrating. In her ignorance, however, she believed her Saviour had died eternally. She stood there among the adherents of every other religious faith in the world.

Religions established by now-deceased leaders who made hollow promises for the afterlife but may offer some guidelines for this one. Sometimes we lose sight of God's strength and promises, and we become so overcome with grief. "Why are you crying when I am here to help and deliver you?" is what Jesus is asking us. While certain religions may be sufficient for living, they may not be sufficient for dying!

2. WHOM ARE YOU SEEKING?  John 20:15 Jesus asked this woman “whom are you seeking?”. When Jesus had already risen from the grave, she was looking for a dead Jesus in the tomb. The God we are looking for is not a lifeless, helpless deity. We worship a living, breathing, all-powerful God who will never abandon us. Are you looking for him?

3.WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
Luke 24:17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? On the walk to Emmaus, Jesus addressed the disciples, "What are you talking about that makes you so sad?" The entire circumstance following Jesus Christ's crucifixion left these disciples perplexed. They continued to experience intense grief, anguish, and despair despite not knowing that He had risen. It was a disorienting and melancholy conversation. That's all you have if Christ isn't alive. Jesus was the solution to all of their disappointments, griefs, longings, and anxieties. He is the solution to ours as well.

4. ARE NOT THESE THINGS FORETOLD IN THE SCRIPTURES?
Luke 24 :25 Jesus asked these disciples “are not these things already foretold by the prophets?”. They were foolish and slow of heart to believe what the Scriptures had already foretold. Our ignorance of the Bible and its promises frequently leaves us perplexed. We fail to read, comprehend, and believe the Scriptures, which causes us to endure unnecessary anxieties and worries.

5. CHILDREN DO YOU HAVE ANY MEAT?
John 21:5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. After returning to fishing as a career, these disciples were utterly unsuccessful in catching any fish. When Jesus encountered these disobedient followers, he really enquired about their well-being and performed a miracle for them. He did not angrily denounce them for returning to fishing. He assisted them in their struggle and tenderly brought them back to Himself. The risen Lord desires to assist us in our struggles and to restore us when we drift away from Him.

6. DO YOU LOVE ME?
John 21:15 “So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.” Peter, who had refused Jesus three times, was asked this question three times. Peter was tasked with serving the Lord after he responded that he loved Jesus. First and foremost, the Lord desires that we love Him, and then He desires that we serve Him. A deceased saviour cannot be served.

7. IF HE STAYS ALIVE TILL I COME WHAT DOES IT MATTER TO YOU?
John 21:22 Peter wanted to know the will of God for John.
“Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me.” Regarding His plan for John, Jesus advised Simon Peter not to worry. Peter had revelations from Jesus regarding his future and his death. Peter, however, wanted to know what would happen to John. Peter need not be concerned about God's plan for John, Jesus retorted. He desired Peter's obedience. Jesus does not want us to squander time and effort attempting to figure out what He has planned for other people. He desires for us to focus on obeying Him and carrying out His purpose for our life.
