Anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as the Lord and saviour of their lives is reborn spiritually and receives new life from God. By faith in Christ, this new birth changes us both inwardly and outwardly. It rearranges our attitudes, desires, and motives. This fresh start in life is available to those who believe in Christ Jesus.
Because we are God's children, we share in great treasures as co-heirs. God has already given us his best gifts: his Son, his Holy Spirit, forgiveness, and eternal life, and he encourages us to ask him for whatever we need.
John 1:12 AKJV "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name."
When a person becomes a Christian, he or she automatically gains all the privileges, promises, and responsibilities of a child in God's family.
Romans 8:14 AKJV "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."
What a privilege! One of the outstanding prerogatives is being led by the spirit of God. In this view, the believer's lifestyle is no longer directed or governed by the "flesh" but by the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God that dwells in you will direct you to the things of God.
Galatians 4:5-6/AKJV "To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father."
As adopted children of God, we share with Jesus all the rights to God's resources. As heirs of God, we can claim what he has provided for us as our full identity as his children. The price of our redemption was paid by the Father through the precious blood of his Son, Jesus Christ, and by the Son giving his life as a ransom for our sins. By this, God paid the ransom price to Himself.
Romans 8:16 AKJV "The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:"
We may not always feel as though we belong to God due to some storms in our day-to-day lives, but the Holy Spirit in us bears witness with our spirit that we are indeed children of God. His inward presence reminds us of who we are in Christ and encourages us with God's love.
Romans 5:5 AKJV "And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given to us."
Since it's not a false hope, all three members of the Trinity are involved in our salvation. The Father loved us so much that he sent his only begotten Son to bridge the gap between us and God. The Father and the Son send the Holy Spirit to fill our lives with love and to enable us to live by his power.
Romans 8:17 AKJV "And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together."
There is a price for being identified with Christ Jesus. Along with being "heirs of God's glory," Believers in Christ must also pay a price for following him. Even in countries where Christianity is tolerated or encouraged, Christians must not become complacent. Nothing we suffer, however, can be compared to the great price that Jesus paid on the cross of Calvary to save us.
Titus 3:7 AKJV "That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life."
We have been declared righteous in the sight of God by grace and not through our works. Righteousness can only be attained through God's grace and faith in Christ alone. Being heirs of the Father and joint heirs of the Son, we are assured of eternal life in his glory.
Luke 11:9 AKJV "And I say to you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you."
Jesus encourages us to persist in pursuing God. People often give up after a few halfhearted efforts and conclude that God cannot be found. But knowing God takes faith, focus, and follow-through, and Jesus assures us that we will be rewarded. Don't give up in your effort to seek God. Continue to ask him for more knowledge, patience, wisdom, love, and understanding. He will surely give it to you, according to his promises.
Mat 6:33: "But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you."
"Seek the Kingdom of God above all else" means to put God first in your life, to fill your thoughts with his desires, to take his character for your pattern, and to serve and obey him in all your endeavours. Always try as much as you can to give God first priority in every area of your life.
Never belittle or underestimate yourself, because you are a royal and you have everything at your disposal. Be heavenly conscious, so that you will not fulfil the lust of the flesh. The devil knows your worth; do not allow him to destroy you with any doubt. With all this loving care, how can we do less than serve him completely?
