Jehovah Shalom: The Lord Our Peace


"And the LORD said to him, Peace be to you; fear not: you shall not die. 
Then Gideon built an altar there to the LORD, and called it Jehovahshalom: to this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites." 
Judges 6:23-24 

In the midst of life's tumultuous storms, we often find ourselves yearning for a sense of tranquility, a peace that surpasses all understanding. The Bible, a timeless source of wisdom, introduces us to the concept of Jehovah Shalom, the Lord Our Peace. This divine attribute is beautifully exemplified in the book of Judges, where Gideon encounters the comforting presence of God.

The narrative unfolds in Judges 6:23-24, where Gideon, a reluctant and fearful leader, is visited by the Lord. The divine message is simple yet profound: "Peace be to you; fear not: you shall not die."
